There are many monuments you can visit in Sitges, a thousand year old city on the Coast of Barcelona, a big part in the history relating Catalonia with the americas. Churches, castles, and emblamatic buildings make up this cultural offer. The Church of Saint Barthalameu and Santa Tecla are the main monuments in Sitges. The church dates back to the XVII century and is located in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento (city hall square). It is considered a Historic Art Monument since 1962.
The city Hall and the Municipal Market are also two monuments of great importance that you should also visit. They were built at the end of the XIX century, and is today a cultural space.
The Maricel Palace, an exposition venue, the Maricel Museum located in what used to be the old hospital, or the Romantic Museum are amongst other emblamatic buildings.
The Club Mar de Sitges is another one of the most emblamatic spots. |
